My name is Lisa Riordan.  I’m a Certified Fitness Trainer (ISSA) and competitive runner.  I grew up in Simsbury, CT playing many sports and fell in love with soccer.  At Simsbury High School... I was twice named All-American and earned a 4-year, full athletic scholarship to the University of Hartford where I was named captain, and competed in the Final 4 of the NCAA Championship.  I have qualified for and completed 6 Boston Marathons, and many other road races and endurance events.  My enthusiasm for sports and exercise has developed into a lifelong passion and commitment to coaching a healthy lifestyle and developing athletes.  I’m a kettlebell enthusiast, TRX addict and lover of pounding the pavement with my Weimaraner named Lola.

I've always enjoyed fitness but as a competitive runner and working mother of 3, I understand the challenge of finding an effective program that addresses my specific athletic needs.

That is why one of my core principles is to build fitness plans that deliver results and maximize performance based on the specific characteristics of the athlete.  To help me do this, I take the entire first session with any new client and perform a complete evaluation of that athlete’s physical condition including injuries, limitations, goals and challenges.  This enables me to design a specialized performance plan that is unique to the athlete to target precise areas for improvement, and enable them to achieve both long and short-term success.

I emphasize developing core stability through a series of strength movements interspersed with short cardio blasts.  I have found this regimen to be very effective to improve strength and agility, increase lean muscle, and loose fat.  Stretching is an important facet of my work and I’m very conscientious about proper form and movement to prevent injury and ensure a good experience.
